Eric Clapton - 24 Nights

I have many albums of the legendary Eric Clapton. I love Unplugged album and the more I listen to it the more I realize how superb that album still is. I can also say the same on From The Cradle album. However, the one and only album I consider ahead of its time made by this great guitarist and singer is 24 Nights.

It is the live album where Eric Clapton played his greatest hits in addition having great guitarists and musicians as guests, such as Phil Collins, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Nathan East, and more. The title of the album, by the way, refers to the number of times Clapton played at the Royal Albert Hall in London between 1990 and 1991.

Why this album is special to me and consider it good? The album comprises of all my favorite music genres; there is rock, blues, pop, and even classical music accompanying "slow hand" with his songs - Michael Kamen on helm for the orchestra parts. There are very little number of albums (and artists) that can acheive all that, with perfection.

Eric Clapton is legendary in my mind, he is the best! But i really like his album Unplugged, and the song Tears in Heaven, its just beautiful. Isn't there a story behind that song?

Hi Michie, this song is about his Clapton's three years old son who died - fell from the balcony of their home. Great song, indeed and the album unplugged is one of the best albums of all time.

I'm sorry but I must disagree.
Saying: "the one and only album I consider ahead of its time made by this great guitarist and singer is 24 Nights" is a too strange sentence to me.
Ahead of its time were the Bluesblreakers (the album that stablished the legend of Clapton back in 1966 and re-writed the story of electric guitar)Cream first albums, and may be the Derek and the Dominoes album (his best album without a doubt along with the Bluesbreakers LP).
By the time Clapton released this 24 Nights CD I don't think it's any ahead of its time. I really love Worried life blues on this and think that it contains The definitive White Room version, and has some good and even great moments, but well, not very much more than this to be found on this record.
Just my opinion, but I hope it can help.
Cheers:
