Erase This Text and You will be Killed

The text in the photo reads:

"This house is of a Ba'thist. Not allowed to be sold or rent. Anyone erases this text will be killed"

This is madness! What is the difference now from the days when Saddam used to grab people out and confiscate their houses? If someone from those who used to live in this house did many things bad during Saddam's rule, it is still not fair to lable the house in such a way.

This will not bring justice to victims...

akhhhh..

funny thing is, the guy who spray-painted this has nice handwriting!

the funnier it is, the harder one cries. or is it vice-versa?

I would not agree more, my friend! One of the reasons i posted this photo is my doubts that the picture might be fake, or not?

MixMax, you just hit the point straight out my friend. Before, Saddam used to burry people and now there is no need to burry them. People are being kidnapped by the government in broad day light. Stronger groups are revenging for their killings and the only victims here are the poor Iraqi people.

I just cannot get it no matter how hard I tried to think!! The same question you're asking is killing me.

Remember how after the war long documentaries were showing the massacre being dug out and bones were put on the sides of that huge hole with people looking for their missing? I wonder in few years, will people find a bone, a piece of clothe to know what really happened to their relatives.

How will we explain to our fatherless children about the death of their parent?

Miraj, glad to see you again visiting my site.
Many of those who we have seen on TV searching among mass graves, many of those are now seeking revenge!
I will never debate the role of the outside influence, unless Iraqis clean themselves up from the dust accumilated on their bodies for years.
I am not going to give any execuse for someone who seeks justice for his lost son or brother or father by just randomly label others with names or a certain group.
Awarness has been for years absent in Iraqi society because of dictatorship, and when people started to become aware of the truth there are who try his best to oppress the idea of building a better Iraq. For that reason, there are more and more educated people getting kidnapped, killed, mutilated

Sadly the revenges are being achieved by mostly groups influced by external forces and of course some internals as well. Batistes and other groups kill Shia to revenge from the current government then the government responds with other revenging operations against Sunni. It's a battle between the government and armed groups using the civilians as weapons!!

Iraq went through a horrible period, 15 years under educational isolation. We need generations to clean the dust off our bodies :(

By the way MixMax, I'm a frequent visitor to your blog and never missed a post. I admired the fact that even though you lived almost all your life outside Iraq you still feel for us and think like most of us do.

This is exactly what is going on, my dear friend. look what happened today at al Sadr (al thaura city sabiqen). After all those poor people got killed, the government has decided to pose a curfew! They are a bunch of crippled individual who cannot do any good for the country. Today's tragedy there is another proof that this government does not know how to run a district, not a country

You might be right, i hope we both be wrong and iraq will recover very soon. You reminds me of the Iraqis living outside iraq, mainly Europe, and i don't mean to talk negetively.

There's something strange indeed. I just opened the pic in photoshop. The camera was not horizontal when the pic was taken, the writing however is horizontal - especially the first part of the second line (from the right ;-)). The last word in the second line is lower, but in itself again horizontal. Horizontal to the pictures outline, not to the house, wall or sidewalk.

Another thing is the reflexion of the bottom word in the water on the sidewalk. I don't know about Iraqi sun, but somehow I'd have guessed a word from the top line to reflect at such distance.

Strange...

I read in the news what happened in Sadr-city. Horrifying. The 15-minutes-rythm reminds me of Al-Qaida.

The reflection of the last word (means "will be killed") is there, Katrin, on the water. Look between the yellow and white blocks in the middle.
However, the writing is so perfect that makes me still doubting!
I am wondering everytime I look to the picture in which neighborhood and city this house is!

With no offense but last thing I want to sound as is the Iraqis living outside, because I am not. I have lived 26 years of my30 years in Iraq. .Lived the Iraqi-Iranian war with all its brain washing, lived the Gulf war, lived the every now and then hits from the American Admin like in 1998 while I was at college, lived the horrible embargo which made us at one point sell a lot of our belongings like many Iraqis and then lived the so called liberation. And now I’m living this madness which I have no clue whether I will survive it or will I see more of my beloved fleeing the country or simply shot dead. I said we need generations to return back normal because while I lived all the previous eras I saw the transformation of our society .

First of all, I wasn't implying that you sound like Iraqis living outside Iraq. That was not my intention or what I had in mind.

Second, I don't see why the last thing you want to be is to sound like an Iraqi living abroad! What difference does it make? or do they have extra fingers????? Millions of Iraqis living abroad, Miraj, experienced the same tragedies and been through the same diasters you mentioned. The only difference is that they left the country in certain time, and most of them left because of the same tragedies and disasters.

Iraqis living abroad are not less Iraqies than those inside the country. Their love to their country is no less. Their love to their people is no less. They cry for them, and their hearts has been torn countless times because of what they see, hear and read about the horrible things happening in Iraq.

Dear Miraj, when I said "you reminded me of Iraqis..." I was refering to the same discussion Iraqis abroad me and you were discussing. They have the same questions and concerns about "what would become of Iraq in the future?" or "what kind of a society will become after all what happened and still to come?" or "how can Iraq find peace?"...etc In other words, I was refering to my own discussions with fellow Iraqis. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Second, I don't see why the last thing you want to be is to sound like an Iraqi living abroad! What difference does it make? or do they have extra fingers????? "

It's just because I have lived 99%of my life here. I would not want to be described as Iraqi living inside had I been living outside. That is all what I meant.
We get affected by every single thing in our society and living outside for a couple of years could change your prospective about a lot of things. That’s why earlier I was puzzled for your thoughts and feelings sounded like you were affected by the same circumstances we were subjected to.

"Millions of Iraqis living abroad, Miraj, experienced the same tragedies and been through the same disasters you mentioned. The only difference is that they left the country in certain time, and most of them left because of the same tragedies and disasters"

I totally agree and I truly sincerely did not mean to make Iraqis who live outside look less.
I truly apologize if my comment looked nasty.

Don't be sorry, Miraj, no harm done! I should have been clearer in my point mentioned in my previous posts. :)

But what do you think of the photo? there are some doubts regarding it authenticity! not only me, but also people who saw it.

Walla ya MixMax and as anarki13 said the handwriting is surprisingly not only correct but beautiful. That is not only a rare case but almost impossible, unless you are writing on banners done by professionals. The people who write stuff on walls , judging from the writings on concrete walls which one of them happen to be next to our garage doors, are never to manage a correct word. Most of the times we laugh when see the mistakes that even an 8 years old kid would not do.

On the other hand and even though I haven't seen such threats written in the open like that but that doesn't mean a lot of things like aren’t happening under the table.

I'm not a photoshop whiz, but um..er... I think this is authentic, I've seen such writings, some killers are handy with calligraphy I guess.

MixMax said...

If killers do have such perfect handwriting, they can have great jobs and earn good money from spraying and painting letters, better than roaming around killing innocents

Mixmax,

Just looking at these type of texts makes me quivering and thinking of " who dared to write that?"

And what will their punishment be?

chikitita said...

Not necessarily. My handwriting looks like a 9 year-old's, but I have been landed very good jobs. And killing seems to be more financially and psychopathically rewarding than using other skills.

MixMax said...

marshmallows26, unfortunately the country is now full of cold hearted killers. Their punishment must be the highest because of such terror. The answer to your question is with Chikita's comment about how killing - not about her handwriting ;)
